Fran Sargent is a member of the Board of Directors. Fran is a native of MA who began quilting 35 years ago. She worked for a number of years in the corporate world, becoming a Vice President at Com Data, before leaving this hectic, high pressure environment. Fran became a real estate agent and met Keith Sargent. Keith was a widower with two small children; son Kris and daughter Kristen when they met and soon after married. When the kids were older, Fran began to pursue quilting more seriously. She loves to teach beginners, and enjoys sharing her love of quilts and quilting with all. Fran was eager to be a part of Sewn-N-Love because of the "old time quilting bee" atmosphere and the outreach ministry to cancer patients. Kris and Kristen's mother died of breast cancer and this ministry touched Fran's heart. Fran says "quilts represent an investment of time and love. The gift of giving a part of yourself to someone hurting and in need of a special touch is accomplished through our gifts of quilts. There is nothing like the warmth of a quilt and giving this gift is a wonderful feeling."

Fran is the owner of Quilter's Attic in Goodlettsville TN where "Everyone is always welcome."

Richard Guthrie, a member of the Board of Directors got his interest in sewing from the aunt who raised him. Then about seven years ago, he discovered the joy of quilting. He gets a great deal of satisfaction meeting the challenges of quilting. He particularly enjoys working in minatures. Richard served in the 118th TN Air National Guard for 42 years as a crew member. He literally saw the world during this time. Additionally, he worked for 48 1/2 years as a cartoghrapher for the TN state DOT. On June 19, 1988 he was diagnosed with cancer and underwent surgery and chemotherapy. Following 7 years of remission his cancer returned; again he took chemotherapy. Again the cancer went into remission. Approximately 3 years ago, the cancer returned for a third time, and once again following chemotherapy it went into remission. Throughout the many years of dealing with cancer, Richard has maintained an upbeat, positive outlook on life. He acknowledges and is thankful for the mercy God has shown him in his battle with cancer. When the situation gets tense, Richard can generally be counted on to lighten the moment, usually with a self effacing comment.

Debbie Lewis, a member of the Board of Directors, started quilting 7 years ago as a result of a promise she made to her sister. Stacy was battling cancer and near the end of her struggle, she made Debbie promise that she would make time to do the things that she had long wanted to do, but kept putting off. At the top of the list was making a quilt. One year after Stacy's death, Debbie signed up for a class at Quilter's Attic. During the first class, she knew immediately that she had discovered what would be a life-long passion. Debbie is a high school math teacher who finds quilting a way to unleash her creative energy. She works part-time at Quilter's Attic in Goodlettsville TN, and loves having the opportunity to help spread the joy of quilting to others. Her efforts in behalf of Sewn-N-Love are yet another way she gives of herself to help others.

"The world is like a quilt, each of us a tiny stitch placed with love and care by our Maker with the sole purpose of holding it together for all the generations to come."
